Healthy Homes, Part 1: Housing History and Purpose Course
Upon successful completion of this course, the inspector will be able to:
-
understand general abbreviations and definitions used to describe a home and its systems;

classify different types of housing throughout history; and
-
describe health concerns regarding urbanization and housing development.
Fundamentals of Risk Mitigation Course
Upon successful completion of this course, the inspector will be able to:
-
describe the purpose of an inspection contract;
-
recognize and describe the basic principles necessary to reduce risk using contracts; and
-
identify the best time to send an inspection agreement and what to do if the best window isn't feasible.
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
-
perform a visual inspection of a log home;
-
identify and describe its framing and finishes, and
-
report observed wood decay defects.
Upon successful completion of this course, the inspector will:
-
understand the major systems and components of a home;
-
be able to inspect the foundation and framing components;
-
find major structural defects; and
-
describe observed indications of structural defects and their implications.
Learn to inspect common commercial building systems, including low-slope roofs, the HVAC, electrical, and plumbing, the structure, exterior, life safety features, and commercial kitchens. Gain hands-on experience during a mock inspection. We’ll also cover essential business practices, from pricing and proposals to report writing and marketing.
